NOughts & Crosses
PROJECT BRIEF:
Book cover redesign.

SYNOPSIS
Callum is a nought - an inferior white citizen in a society controlled by the black crosses.
Sephy is a cross - and the daughter of one of the most powerful, ruthless men in the country.
In their hostile, violent world, noughts and crosses simply don't mix. But when Sephy and Callum's childhood friendship grows into passionate love, they're determined to find a way to
be together.

Concepts

INITIAL CONCEPTS
Initial experiments were intended to show the meaning behind the book but in a subtle/less obvious way.
Rather than literally illustrating characters, the emphasis here was to show affection and how people are controlled.

POSTCARD CONCEPT
The idea behind this relates to a special place for the characters. Namely, the beach.
The objective being to create something which could have been favoured and used by
the characters.
FINal

FINAL CONCEPT
This design was inspired by the story's 'ransom notes' relating to a terrorist attack due to certain demands which were not met.
This aspect was chosen as it was interpreted as an important part of the story to accompany reversed race.
