PROJECT BRIEF:
This project was for D&AD's brief celebrating a community by using typography. The community chosen was street art.
Aim was to help celebrate and educate people on how to create street art. Use the art for good by transforming run down areas.
the app

1
Begin by typing in the word you wish to create.
2
Start to customise the lettering such as adding bubbles.

3
Add an outline, as one example, around the lettering or have an inline within it.

5
Begin to colour your word. Simply tap on the part you wish to change and select a colour.

4
Once you're happy with your word you can move on to step 5.

6
Once you're happy with your finalised word move on to step 7.

7
The App will show you locations where you can legally, and actually, paint your word.

8
The App will also show you an example of what your word will look like on a wall.
Design process

HAND DRAWN
The alphabet typefaces that the App runs off are unique (see example of one typeface above). Typefaces are designed first by hand.

VECTOR
Each typeface is adapted in Illustrator to create an outline version of it.

FINAL
Typefaces are then touched up to ensure they are perfect.

EXAMPLES
Using this typeface example, completed words are detailed above to illustrate how they would look.
Legal wall

WHERE TO PAINT
Where you paint could transform an approved run down area and make it more appealing by the use of proper design.
The App will show you, step by step, how to create your word, what it will look like as a mockup and where you can actually paint
it legally.
